Jones County, TX (October 17, 2024) – A tragic car accident occurred on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of a Merkel woman. The crash took place around 10:45 a.m. on Highway 277.
According to the Hawley Police Department, 78-year-old Bonnie Kinard was traveling east on FM 605 when she allegedly disregarded a stop sign. This led to her vehicle colliding with the side of another car that was heading south on Highway 277.
Following the collision, Kinard was transported to a local hospital with multiple fractures. Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, described as a middle-aged man, was also taken to the hospital, but he was transported by private auto.
