Greenville, OH (October 17, 2024) – On October 16, at approximately 3:21 p.m., emergency responders were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Route 121 and Conover Road. Darke County Deputies, along with Versailles Fire and Rescue and Ansonia Rescue, arrived to assist with the incident.
Preliminary investigations indicated that a white 2021 Ford Transit Ambulance, driven by 41-year-old Elisha Milby of Greenville, was traveling westbound on State Route 121 with its emergency lights and siren activated. In an attempt to pass two vehicles, including a dump truck, the ambulance collided with a silver 2017 Ford Escape. The ambulance driver was treated and released from the scene. However, the front-seat passenger, Daniel Hittle, 32, of Greenville, who was an employee, was transported to WayneHealth for his injuries. Brandy Shappie, the driver of the Ford Escape, was transported to the Darke County Airport and subsequently airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital via CareFlight for further medical attention.
This crash remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
