Emergency responders from the Kansasville Fire and Rescue Department (KFRD) and Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department (UGYFD) quickly arrived at the scene after being called for mutual aid. The collision involved a grey Toyota RAV4 and a maroon GMC Terrain. While both vehicles were upright with only minor damage, neither vehicle had airbag deployment, and no extrication was needed.
The Toyota RAV4 was occupied by an adult driver and two minor children. KFRD’s paramedics assessed the occupants of the Toyota for injuries, and one individual was transported to Aurora Medical Center – Mount Pleasant for further evaluation and treatment. The other passengers, including the driver and children, were not transported. Meanwhile, the GMC Terrain’s occupants, including the driver and a minor passenger, were treated at the scene by UGYFD’s paramedic crew, and neither required medical transport.
Racine County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assisted with traffic control and are currently investigating the cause of the crash. The scene was cleared promptly, with UGYFD’s squad assisting in vehicle removal to help restore normal traffic flow during the busy rush hour period.
Our thoughts go to the victims as we hope for their recovery.
Two-Vehicle Accidents in Wisconsin
Two-vehicle crashes are unfortunately common throughout Wisconsin, especially during peak travel times like rush hour. Although the vehicles involved in this incident sustained only minor damage, the presence of minor children in the Toyota RAV4 highlights the importance of swift medical evaluation and attention, even in cases of seemingly less severe crashes. The lack of airbag deployment suggests that the impact was not as severe as some accidents, but the presence of injuries underscores the unpredictability of collisions, particularly in busy intersections.
Wisconsin residents should always stay cautious at busy intersections, especially when traveling through areas like the Village of Yorkville, where such incidents can cause significant disruptions to traffic flow. Drivers should be aware of their surroundings and maintain a safe following distance to avoid collisions.
In this case, the combined efforts of local fire departments and law enforcement ensured that traffic was cleared and the scene was safely managed. The quick response of first responders allowed for minimal delay and ensured that those involved in the crash received the appropriate care.
