Yazoo City, MS (November 9, 2024) – The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University are mourning the loss of football player Ryan Quinney, who tragically died in a car crash Friday evening. The crash occurred during a high-speed chase involving the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
According to Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers, the chase began in Flora and continued into Yazoo City. The vehicle Quinney was in lost control on Jerry Clower Boulevard near 20th Street. The car veered off the road, traveled through a ditch, struck a parked vehicle, and became airborne. It then collided with a light pole and flipped multiple times before coming to rest in a yard on Talbert Drive.
Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver, who was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Tragically, Quinney was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ryan Quinney, a junior from Mobile, Alabama, was a valued member of the Delta Devils football team. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Mississippi Valley State University extended condolences to Quinney’s family, friends, and teammates, honoring his memory and his contributions to the community.
