Woodstock, IL (November 4, 2024) – A serious accident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a bridge collapsed, trapping a man under a tractor in northwest suburban Woodstock. Emergency responders were alerted to the scene at approximately 3 p.m. in the 3200 block of North Route 47, where they found the individual partially submerged and conscious.
Fire crews from the area quickly arrived and were informed of the man’s entrapment. They worked diligently to lift the tractor off him, successfully freeing him after about half an hour. The victim was then airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for urgent medical care.
The man sustained serious injuries from both the collapse and the entrapment. Additionally, he experienced severe hypothermia due to prolonged exposure to water.
