Winter Garden, FL (January 29, 2025) – A crash on the southbound lanes of State Road 429 in Orange County left one person injured on Tuesday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is currently searching for a vehicle that fled the scene after causing the accident.

The crash occurred near mile marker 16 when both involved vehicles were traveling southbound in the inside lane. According to troopers, the unidentified vehicle changed lanes to the outside lane before suddenly merging back into the inside lane, cutting off a 2019 Kia UT.

The Kia was struck on the front right side, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then hit the guardrail, ran off the roadway, and overturned. The driver of the Kia was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The unknown vehicle, which may be dark-colored, continued southbound on SR-429 without stopping. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact FHP or Crimeline.

The accident remains under investigation, and no roadblocks were reported in the area.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we wish them a full recovery.

Hit-and-Run Accidents in Florida

Hit-and-run accidents pose a significant danger to Florida drivers, often leaving victims injured and struggling to seek justice. Florida law requires all drivers involved in a crash to remain at the scene; fleeing an accident with injuries is a serious offense that can result in felony charges.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), thousands of hit-and-run crashes occur statewide each year. Many involve reckless lane changes, speeding, and distracted driving. Unfortunately, identifying and locating fleeing drivers can be challenging without witness reports or surveillance footage.

Victims of hit-and-run accidents may face medical expenses, lost income, and extensive vehicle damage. Seeking legal guidance can help injured parties understand their rights and explore options for recovering compensation.

If you or a loved one has been hurt in a hit-and-run crash, speaking with a professional can help you navigate your next steps and secure the support and resources you need.
