Winston-Salem, NC (November 10, 2024) – A crash during the Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) Homecoming parade left five pedestrians injured on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Research Parkway as the parade was in progress.
According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, a 2009 Chevrolet that had stopped to wait for the parade unexpectedly began moving, striking several pedestrians and a 2024 Cadillac. Emergency responders, including the Winston-Salem Fire Department and Forsyth County EMS, quickly arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance.
The injured pedestrians were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, neither the drivers nor occupants of the vehicles involved were injured.
