Williamsport, PA (January 7, 2025) – A tragic accident occurred Sunday night when a 52-year-old man was struck and fatally injured while crossing Washington Blvd near Ward St. Authorities have identified the victim as Gerard Miles of Williamsport.
According to Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling and the Williamsport Bureau of Police, the incident happened just before 10 p.m. Miles was crossing Washington Blvd from the south side when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Officials noted that he was wearing dark-colored clothing and was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Miles sustained severe injuries to his head and chest and was immediately transported to the Trauma Center at UPMC Susquehanna. Despite undergoing emergency surgery, he succumbed to his injuries in the ICU at 2:28 a.m. Monday morning. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident remains ongoing.
