Williamsburg, KY (December 11, 2024) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 11, London, is investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on December 10, 2024, just after 3:16 p.m. on southbound Interstate 75 at the 15-mile marker in Whitley County.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a commercial vehicle, driven by 44-year-old Qafa Alfreg of Commerce, MI, was traveling south when it was struck by a 2015 white Ford F-150. The F-150, driven by 28-year-old Michael G. Waits of Lynchburg, OH, collided with the semi-truck. Mr. Waits was transported by EMS to Baptist Health Corbin, where he was treated and released.
Tragically, the passenger in the F-150, 24-year-old Addison F. Bailey of Fayetteville, OH, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner.
KSP Trooper Shane Bowling is continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision. He was assisted at the scene by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, additional KSP personnel, the Whitley County Ambulance Service, Whitley County Fire Department, Whitley County Emergency Management, and the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
