Whitley County, IN (February 2, 2025) – Two drivers suffered serious injuries in a wrong-way crash on US 30 near County Road 700 East, according to the Indiana State Police.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:05 PM, when a Nissan Rogue, driven by 66-year-old Sandra McCoy of Columbia City, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of US 30. The Rogue then collided head-on with a Kia Sedona, driven by 39-year-old Kathleen Johnson, who was traveling eastbound.
Both McCoy and Johnson sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities suspect alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, though an investigation remains ongoing.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Columbia City Police Department, Churubusco Police Department, Union Township Fire Department, and Parkview EMS.
