Whitley City, KY (December 11, 2024) – A woman from Ohio has tragically died following a crash on I-75 in Whitley County on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. The incident occurred around 3:16 PM when Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash.

Preliminary investigations by KSP revealed that a semi-truck was traveling south on I-75 when a Ford F-150, also heading south, struck the semi. The driver of the F-150 was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries and was later released. However, the passenger in the F-150, identified as 24-year-old Addison Bailey from Fayetteville, Ohio, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and Kentucky State Police Trooper Shane Bowling is leading the inquiry into the cause of the collision.

Fatal Crashes in Kentucky

Fatal accidents involving large vehicles like semi-trucks are unfortunately common due to the size and weight disparity between trucks and smaller passenger vehicles. Ejections during collisions often result in severe injuries or fatalities, emphasizing the importance of seatbelt use.

Drivers and passengers are reminded to always wear seatbelts, regardless of their position in the vehicle, to reduce the risk of ejections and serious injuries during accidents.

For those involved in fatal crashes, understanding legal rights and recovery options is crucial for surviving family members. Compensation may be available for funeral expenses, emotional distress, and other damages. Seeking legal guidance can help navigate the complexities of recovery during such a difficult time.
