Whiteland, IN (January 2, 2025) – Donna L. Owen, a 56-year-old Whiteland resident, tragically lost her life following a car crash on New Year’s Day. The accident occurred at approximately 5:44 p.m. near the intersection of Whiteland Rd and County Rd 75 W.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, a white Impala driven by a 73-year-old Bargersville man collided head-on with Owen’s vehicle while traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of Whiteland Rd. A witness stated that the driver of the Impala had been crossing the centerline and narrowly avoided hitting his vehicle before the fatal crash. The witness observed the collision with Owen in his rearview mirror.

Emergency responders arrived to find both drivers entrapped in their vehicles. Fire crews extricated the individuals, who were then transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, Owen succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Impala also sustained injuries but remains hospitalized. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts are with Donna Owen’s family and friends during this heartbreaking time.

Head-On Collisions in Indiana

Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of car accidents, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. These crashes frequently occur when drivers cross the centerline, whether due to distraction, impairment, or other factors. Major roadways such as Whiteland Rd are particularly prone to such incidents due to high speeds and traffic volume.

Indiana records numerous head-on collisions each year, highlighting the critical need for drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to road safety practices. Victims of these accidents, or their families, often face significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges.

For those affected by head-on collisions, it is essential to seek legal guidance, document the incident, and take steps to ensure fair compensation for damages and medical costs.
