Westport Twp, MN (November 23, 2024) – An accident involving two vehicles occurred on Highway 28 at Milepost 92 in Westport Township, Pope County, Friday evening, leaving one person injured.
According to reports, the crash involved a 2004 Chevrolet Impala and a 2014 Ford Taurus. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Highway 28 when they collided. Emergency responders from Villard Fire, Sauk Center Ambulance, and the Pope County Sheriff’s Office arrived promptly to assist those involved in the accident.
The driver of the Chevrolet Impala, 19-year-old Anna Marie Sadlemyer of Osakis, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to CentraCare of Sauk Center for medical care. She was confirmed to have been wearing her seat belt, and her vehicle’s airbags deployed during the collision.
A passenger in the Impala, 19-year-old Chrisob Matthew Richard Sadlemyer, also from Osakis, was unharmed. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Ford Taurus, driven by 20-year-old Kylie Sierra Elmes of Long Prairie, did not deploy its airbags, but she was uninjured. She was also confirmed to have been wearing her seat belt. Authorities have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
The roadway was dry at the time of the accident, and there were no additional vehicles involved. Local officials continue to investigate the cause of the collision, which momentarily disrupted traffic in the area.
