Westfield Township, OH (November 29, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash occurred early Thursday morning on Interstate 71 in Medina County, resulting in the death of one individual. At approximately 12:16 AM, Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to the scene near milepost 206, where a white Hyundai Santa Fe collided with a white Honda Civic. According to investigators, the Hyundai was traveling north when it struck the back of the Honda Civic, causing it to veer off the left side of the roadway.
The Hyundai continued across the southbound lanes, crashing head-on into a semi-tractor trailer and then into a white Dodge cargo van. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 25-year-old Eliyjsha Richardson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge cargo van sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Cleveland Clinic in Lodi for treatment. Authorities report that the other individuals involved in the crash did not suffer injuries.
