Westerville, OH (September 13, 2024) – A construction accident near Alcott Elementary School in Genoa Township left one person dead on Thursday afternoon, September 12. The incident, reported around 1:30 p.m., occurred near the school’s softball field, where a private contractor, whose company affiliation has not been confirmed, was working.

Police believe the victim was using construction equipment to grade the infield of the softball field when the fatal accident occurred. Genoa Township Police Chief James McMillin confirmed the victim had no connection to the township or the school.
