West Lake Wylie, SC (January 11, 2025) – South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is investigating a fatal crash involving three vehicles that occurred on Highway 557 near Charlotte Hwy in York County. The collision, reported around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, resulted in the death of one individual.
According to troopers, a 2001 Buick sedan was traveling on Highway 557 when a 1980 Datsun sedan attempted to turn into a private drive. The Buick struck the Datsun, which was then pushed into a 2005 Toyota SUV that was in the private drive. The only injury reported was the passenger of the Datsun, who was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released by the coroner’s office. The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
