West Lafayette, IN (March 3, 2025) – Two Purdue University undergraduate students were critically injured Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing University St.
According to Purdue University police, the victims—identified as 19-year-old Peter Mon and Adam Cobb—were walking westbound across University St at approximately 8:00 p.m. when they were hit by a southbound vehicle driven by 36-year-old Elsayed Salem.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and determined the severity of the students’ injuries required immediate transport to trauma centers. Mon and Cobb were airlifted to hospitals in Indianapolis for urgent medical care.
West Lafayette police accident reconstruction specialists assisted Purdue police in investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not released further details regarding potential contributing factors.
Mon, a data science student from Armonk, NY, and Cobb, a sales and marketing student from Westfield, IN, remain hospitalized as the investigation continues.
