West Hartford, CT (November 28, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred Wednesday night when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle. The incident took place at around 6:44 p.m. on Sedgwick Road near Cornell Road. The victim, identified as 74-year-old Anne Rapkin, was critically injured and later died from her injuries.
Emergency units, including the West Hartford Fire Department, responded promptly to the scene. An adult pedestrian was transported to the hospital for further treatment, but sadly, Rapkin did not survive the crash. Authorities have confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. No charges have been reported as of yet. Sedgwick Road has been shut down between Ridgewood Road and Cornell Road as police continue their investigation into the incident.
