West Frankfort, IL (January 25, 2025) – Emergency crews responded to a serious head-on collision involving two vehicles on State Highway 37 North near the Big Muddy River. The crash resulted in at least one person being ejected from a vehicle.
West Frankfort Fire, West Frankfort Police Department, AMR paramedics, and an Air Evac medical helicopter were dispatched to the scene. Emergency responders provided medical care to the injured individuals, and at least one patient was airlifted for advanced treatment. The conditions of those involved have not yet been disclosed.
State Highway 37 was temporarily closed as crews worked to manage the scene, provide aid to the victims, and investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
