Wenatchee, WA (October 25, 2024) – A pedestrian accident occurred on Monday morning on North Wenatchee Avenue, resulting in injuries to two women. The incident took place just before 9 a.m. at the intersection of North Wenatchee Avenue and Ninth Street.
According to the Wenatchee Police Department, the driver of a pickup truck was attempting to make a left turn when he struck the two women, aged 23 and 24. Officers reported that the driver claimed he did not see the women as he turned. Emergency responders treated the women at the scene before transporting them to Confluence Health Hospital for further evaluation.
Wenatchee Police Chief Edgar Reinfeld commented on the incident, expressing relief that both women sustained only minor injuries. “This could have been much worse,” Reinfeld stated. “A couple of feet one way or the other, and he could have seriously hurt them both.”
The identity of the driver has not been disclosed, but he is expected to receive a citation for failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
Our thoughts are with the injured women as they recover from this incident.
