Weber County, UT (January 17, 2025) – Two individuals were injured in a box truck crash on Powder Mountain Road (state Route 158) Thursday afternoon, forcing the roadway to close for at least an hour. The crash occurred near 5300 N. Powder Mountain Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the right shoulder, and crashed into the side of the mountain, according to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.
Both occupants of the box truck were ejected through the front windshield and thrown approximately 20 to 30 feet from the vehicle, as reported by Weber Fire District Deputy Chief David Reed. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.
One of the occupants sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to the hospital via helicopter. The second individual, who suffered less severe injuries, was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
The cause of the crash is under investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the driver losing control. The roadway was temporarily shut down as crews cleared the scene and ensured the area was safe for travel.
