Waynesboro, VA (February 26, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hopeman Parkway and Evershire Street claimed the life of a local woman and left two children with serious injuries on Monday morning.
According to the Waynesboro Police Department, officers responded to the crash at approximately 7:41 a.m. Emergency medical teams arrived at the scene and provided immediate care to the injured victims. Tragically, Brittany J. Comer, 31, of Waynesboro, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Two young children traveling with Comer suffered serious injuries and were transported to UVA Health in Charlottesville for emergency treatment.
The other vehicle involved was driven by Brianca E. Estes, 31, of Waynesboro. Estes sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to Augusta Health in Fishersville. A passenger in her vehicle was also taken to UVA Health for treatment.
Following a preliminary investigation, Estes was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. She is currently being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail, and police have indicated that additional charges may follow.
Authorities have since reopened Hopeman Parkway to traffic. The Waynesboro Police Department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Sgt. M. Holmes at (540) 836-0876.
