Wayne County, MS (January 24, 2025) – A single-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. 84 East near County Line Rd left two people injured Thursday morning, with one individual sustaining serious injuries. The Jones County Fire Council reported that multiple volunteer fire departments responded to a mutual aid request from the Wayne County Volunteer Fire Department after the crash was reported around 11 a.m.
When emergency responders arrived, they discovered a vehicle that had rolled down a steep embankment, coming to rest near the wood line. One occupant managed to escape the wreck on their own, while the second was trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to extricate the trapped individual.
Paramedics from Wayne General Hospital ambulance service transported both individuals to the hospital. One victim suffered apparent serious injuries, while the other sustained what appeared to be minor injuries. EMServ also provided support at the scene.
Firefighters from M & M, Powers, Rustin, and Sandersville volunteer fire departments worked alongside deputies from the Jones County and Wayne County Sheriff’s Departments, as well as Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers, to secure the area and assist the victims. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
