Waverly, VA (January 22, 2025) – A serious four-vehicle collision occurred Tuesday morning on Route 460, east of Route 40 in Waverly, leaving three individuals injured. Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to the scene shortly before 9 a.m.
Initial investigations revealed that a 2017 Honda Civic slowed down to make a left turn into the Waverly VDOT facility when it was rear-ended by a 2005 Toyota Corolla. The impact forced the Honda Civic into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by a 2017 Ford Fusion and a 2017 Peterbilt 579 tractor-trailer.
The driver of the Honda Civic sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment. The drivers of the Toyota Corolla and Ford Fusion were transported to Southside Medical Center in Petersburg with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Peterbilt tractor-trailer was evaluated on-site and did not require additional medical care.
Each vehicle involved had only one occupant. The driver of the Toyota Corolla, identified as Savanah Bedard from Henrico, was cited for multiple infractions, including following too closely, not wearing a seatbelt, an expired state inspection, and lacking proof of insurance.
The crash remains under investigation. Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident. We hope for the swift recovery of anyone injured in this unfortunate event.
