Waterbury, CT (December 16, 2024) – Four people were injured, two seriously, after a car crashed into the Rose Vega Bakery on Main Street in Waterbury on Friday. According to reports from WFSB 3-TV and NBC CT, the accident occurred when a car traveling east on Pearl Street veered off course and struck the bakery.
Among the injured, a 19-year-old inside the bakery at the time of the crash is in critical condition. A 65-year-old Bridgeport woman, also inside the bakery, was seriously injured. Both were airlifted by LifeStar Helicopter to Hartford Hospital for immediate medical treatment. Two other individuals, including the driver and another person inside the bakery, sustained minor injuries and did not require air transport.
The crash caused significant damage to the building, with reports indicating that the impact severely affected the structure.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash, including reports that the car may have been driving erratically before the incident. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
