Pedestrian Safety in North Carolina
Pedestrian accidents are a somber reminder of the dangers present on roadways, especially during poor weather conditions or in areas lacking sufficient lighting. North Carolina’s highways and rural roads can pose significant risks for those on foot, particularly when visibility is low.
To enhance pedestrian safety, individuals are encouraged to wear reflective or brightly colored clothing when walking near roadways, especially at night or during inclement weather. Motorists, in turn, must remain vigilant and adjust their driving to accommodate reduced visibility and road conditions.
When accidents occur, all parties need to cooperate with investigations to help uncover the contributing factors and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
