Washington Township, NJ (October 11, 2024) – A serious motor vehicle accident occurred on Thursday October 10 at the intersection of Route 31 in front of Oakwood Lanes, resulting in entrapment and injuries. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene following reports of the incident.
At approximately 4:25 PM, police arrived to find that a tractor-trailer (TT) had collided with two cars, leading to two individuals being entrapped in their vehicles. Emergency responders quickly assessed the situation and placed a medevac on standby for potential air transport.
By 4:34 PM, it was reported that the driver of the tractor-trailer had been pinned but was able to self-extricate. However, the second individual remained trapped, prompting the medevac to be activated, with the landing zone (LZ) initially set at Boro Park.
At 4:42 PM, the landing zone was moved to Albea, and by 4:53 PM, the medevac arrived at the new location while extrication efforts continued. Command reported an extended extrication process at 4:59 PM and requested the flight crew to come to the scene for assistance.
By 5:25 PM, the entrapped individual was successfully extricated and transported to the landing zone. Patient care was then turned over to the medevac crew, who transported the individual to a trauma center, with the transfer completed by 5:58 PM.
Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident, and we hope for a swift recovery for anyone injured.
