Washington County, OR (February 28, 2025) – A Newberg man lost his life in a crash involving a semi-truck early Thursday morning in rural Washington County, according to authorities.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Southwest Bald Peak Road and Southwest Elsinore Lane. Investigators determined that 62-year-old Daniel Pfeiffer was driving east on Bald Peak Road when he collided with a semi-truck that was backing into Elsinore Lane.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Pfeiffer was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver remained at the site and cooperated with the investigation. Officials have stated that impairment does not appear to have played a role in the crash.

Southwest Bald Peak Road was closed for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation, reopening just after 10:30 a.m. Officials have asked anyone with additional information about the crash to come forward.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Daniel Pfeiffer during this difficult time.

Truck Accidents in Oregon

Collisions involving semi-trucks can be especially dangerous due to the sheer size and weight of these vehicles. When a passenger car collides with a commercial truck, the impact often results in severe or fatal injuries. Factors such as limited visibility, maneuvering challenges, and roadway conditions can contribute to these devastating crashes.

In Oregon’s rural areas, roads like Bald Peak Road can present unique hazards, including sharp turns, elevation changes, and lower visibility during early morning or late-night hours. Drivers are encouraged to remain alert and use extra caution when approaching intersections or areas where large trucks may be maneuvering.

For families affected by fatal truck accidents, the aftermath can be overwhelming, both emotionally and financially. Seeking support and understanding of legal options can help loved ones navigate this challenging time.
