Washington County, MO (January 27, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Missouri 47 and Route H, claiming one life and injuring two others. Emergency responders from Washington County Fire and Rescue and paramedics promptly arrived at the scene to assist those affected.
The accident took place at approximately 12:30 PM and involved three vehicles. A 2013 Ford Escape, driven by a 62-year-old male from Hillsboro, MO, was traveling westbound on Route H when it entered the path of a southbound 2007 Chevrolet 2500 at the intersection. The Chevrolet, driven by a 56-year-old male from Lubbering, MO, collided with the Ford Escape, causing both vehicles to sustain total damage. The Chevrolet then veered off the roadway, striking a parked 2004 Dodge 2500 and a nearby house.
The driver of the Ford Escape was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Washington County Coroner at 1:25 PM. A 62-year-old female passenger from Hillsboro, MO, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by Air Evac 8 to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet also sustained serious injuries and was transported by the Washington County Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South for treatment.
First responders worked diligently to care for the injured victims while ensuring the scene was secured for further investigation. Officers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal collision.
