Warsaw Twp, MN (November 28, 2024) – A collision occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 56 and County Road 9 in Goodhue County, involving two vehicles. According to the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 36-year-old Erin Jean Vanguilder of Bayfield, WI, was traveling northbound on Highway 52 when it collided with a 2008 Buick Lacrosse, driven by 21-year-old John Henry Liebl of Dennison, MN, who was traveling westbound on County Road 9. Emergency responders from Nerstrand Fire Department and Northfield Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban, Erin Vanguilder, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Northfield Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, all three passengers in the Suburban, including two young children ages 2 and 4 and a 15-year-old female, were unharmed in the crash. All passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, which likely contributed to the lack of serious injuries.

John Henry Liebl, the driver of the Buick Lacrosse, was not injured in the crash, and there were no other passengers in his vehicle. It was reported that no alcohol was involved in the accident, and both drivers were using seat belts.

Our thoughts go to the victims as we hope for their recovery.

Car Crashes in Minnesota

This crash highlights the importance of safety features such as seat belts and airbags in preventing serious injury or fatality during vehicle collisions. While Erin Vanguilder sustained some injuries, her vehicle’s airbags likely helped mitigate the severity of the impact. Thankfully, her passengers escaped unharmed, and John Liebl also avoided injury.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the crash, but road conditions were dry at the time of the collision, and no alcohol was involved. The investigation will focus on determining whether any other factors contributed to the accident.

Local Accident Reports expresses sympathy for those involved in this accident and encourages all drivers to remain vigilant on the road, adhere to traffic laws, and use all available safety features to reduce the risk of injury.
