Ward County, TX (October 22, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle accident occurred early Sunday morning, October 20, resulting in the death of one individual. The incident took place along SH 115 near mile marker 389 at approximately 3:20 a.m., prompting a response from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
According to Sergeant Steven Blanco with DPS, the accident involved a 2009 Freightliner truck with a trailer and a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep, driven by 30-year-old Christian Reyes, was traveling southbound on SH 115 when the Freightliner, operated by 36-year-old Aldo Jesus Corrales Orduno, attempted to make a U-turn from the improved shoulder of the road right in front of Reyes. This maneuver resulted in an immediate and catastrophic collision.
Tragically, Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicate that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. In contrast, Orduno was wearing his seatbelt and sustained no injuries from the crash.
