Wamego, KS (November 14, 2024) – A tragic accident in northeast Kansas claimed the life of a 69-year-old man on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, when a pickup truck collided with his vehicle. The crash occurred just after 1:30 p.m. on K-99, south of Wamego.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a southbound Chevy Silverado crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a Honda CR-V head-on. The driver of the Honda, John Long, a resident of Wamego, was transported to a local hospital following the collision. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the medical facility.
The 20-year-old driver of the Chevy Silverado, a man from Manhattan, was also hospitalized with suspected serious injuries. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident, particularly why the pickup truck veered into the opposite lanes of traffic.
