Walton Twp, MI (March 5, 2025) – Two people lost their lives in a tragic single-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon in Eaton County’s Walton Township.

According to Michigan State Police, the crash occurred on Marshall Rd between Stine Rd and Bellevue Rd when a white Chevrolet Equinox veered off the roadway, drove onto the shoulder, and crashed into a tree. Both occupants— a 58-year-old male driver and a 44-year-old female passenger from Olivet—were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the crash. Investigators have not yet ruled out the possibility of a medical emergency, nor have they determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

The roadway was closed for several hours as troopers conducted their investigation.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.

Vehicle Crashes in Michigan

Vehicle crashes, like the one on Marshall Rd, can result from a variety of factors, including medical emergencies, driver fatigue, distractions, or hazardous road conditions. When a vehicle leaves the roadway, the risk of severe injuries or fatalities increases, especially if the car collides with a fixed object like a tree or barrier.

Victims’ families often face emotional and financial hardships following a fatal crash, including funeral expenses and loss of income. If a crash is caused by a vehicle malfunction, road hazards, or another preventable factor, there may be legal options for seeking compensation.
