Walton County, FL (October 29, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Monday evening on Interstate 10 that resulted in the loss of life. At approximately 8:30 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to a collision involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck near mile marker 72.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the semi-truck was traveling westbound on I-10 and was moving at a higher speed than the pickup truck, which was directly in front of it. The semi collided with the pickup, causing the latter to veer off the highway and strike several trees. The semi-truck managed to come to a controlled stop in the westbound emergency lane.
Tragically, the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently under investigation by the FHP.
