Waltham, MA (January 17, 2025) – A school bus carrying 34 students from the Waltham Dual Language School was involved in a crash with a van and a car near Bentley University on Friday morning. The collision occurred at the intersection of Beaver St and Lexington St just after 8 a.m.
According to the Waltham Fire Department, the school bus struck a REM Services van, causing it to roll over onto a car that was stopped at a traffic light. First responders arrived to find the van on its side, requiring the extrication of the van’s driver. The driver was transported to Newton Wellesley Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Six students aboard the bus were also taken to Newton Wellesley Hospital for medical care. The remaining students and other occupants of the vehicles involved were evaluated at the scene. A total of 37 people were involved in the crash, leading to a Mass Casualty Incident being declared to ensure adequate resources were available.
The drivers of the school bus and the car were not injured. The cause of the crash is under investigation by local authorities.
