Verona, WI (November 21, 2024) – A serious two-vehicle crash on Tuesday night along County Hwy PB near Rolling Oaks Ln resulted in one individual being hospitalized and another facing multiple charges, including Operating While Intoxicated.
Emergency responders, including the Verona Police Department, arrived at the scene to find an SUV with significant front-end damage and its driver initially unresponsive. Officers had to forcibly enter the vehicle, finding the driver conscious but unable to exit the SUV on his own.
Investigators determined that the SUV was traveling south on County Hwy PB when it rear-ended a pickup truck, forcing the truck off the roadway. The driver of the pickup sustained neck and spine injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 36-year-old Ian Heinz from Belleville, showed signs of impairment and was found in possession of a handgun. Following field sobriety tests, Heinz was arrested on charges that included Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Causing Injury, and Going Armed While Intoxicated.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
