Ventura, CA (February 16, 2025) – Four people were injured, including two who had to be rescued from their SUV, following a crash at the intersection of Loma Vista Rd and North Victoria Ave on Saturday afternoon.
The Ventura City Fire Department (VCFD) responded to multiple calls about the collision at approximately 1:45 p.m. Upon arrival, emergency crews found a pickup truck overturned on its side, with both occupants managing to self-extricate before responders arrived.
A second vehicle, an SUV that had crashed into a parked car, had two individuals trapped inside. Officials reported that both patients were in critical condition when emergency responders arrived. Firefighters worked swiftly to stabilize the vehicle and used the Jaws of Life to carefully extricate the trapped victims.
Despite the complexity of the rescue, all individuals were freed within 30 minutes. The four injured victims were transported to local hospitals, but no updates on their conditions were immediately available. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident and whether the parked vehicle involved was the overturned pickup truck.
Our thoughts are with those affected by this crash, and we hope for their full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions in California
Serious vehicle crashes are a common occurrence across California, especially in cities like Ventura, where busy intersections and high-speed roads contribute to accident risks. Multi-vehicle collisions often result in severe injuries due to the high-impact forces and the number of vehicles involved.
When a crash results in entrapment, emergency responders must work quickly to stabilize the vehicle and rescue the occupants. The use of tools such as the Jaws of Life can be crucial in safely removing victims without worsening their injuries.
For those involved in major accidents, seeking medical attention immediately is essential, even if injuries are not immediately apparent. Some trauma, including internal injuries and concussions, may not show symptoms right away but could have serious long-term effects.
Victims of serious collisions may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other damages, especially if another party’s negligence contributed to the crash. Establishing liability often requires reviewing police reports, analyzing crash scene evidence, and obtaining witness testimony.
