Vancouver, WA (January 10, 2025) – A 5-year-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike in the parking lot of the Townhouse Square Apartments on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM at 8701 East Mill Plain Boulevard, according to the Vancouver Police Department.
Police reported that the child was riding his bike between two parked cars when he entered the path of an oncoming vehicle. The driver told officers that he felt his rear passenger tire go over something and stopped, discovering the child and his bike on the ground.
The child was transported to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Police noted that the child was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver cooperated fully with the investigation, and authorities do not believe speed or impairment were contributing factors.
