Van Wert, OH (January 12, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash involving a box truck and a pickup truck occurred Saturday afternoon at U.S. 224 and Van Wert Decatur Road in Pleasant Township, Van Wert County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) responded shortly after noon.
According to a preliminary investigation, Adam Schulte, of Kettering, Ohio, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on U.S. 224. Marcus Mudd, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was driving a 2023 Mack box truck eastbound on the same road. Schulte attempted to make a left turn onto Van Wert Decatur Road, crossing into the path of Mudd’s truck. The Mack struck the Chevrolet, pushing it off the north side of U.S. 224.
Emergency responders arrived promptly, and Schulte, who sustained serious injuries, was airlifted to a nearby medical facility for advanced treatment. The condition of Mudd has not been disclosed, and no other injuries have been reported at this time.
The crash caused significant disruptions in the area as OSHP Troopers investigated the incident and worked to clear the scene. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding potential charges or contributing factors.
