Intersection Collisions and Right-of-Way in Missouri
Intersections, particularly those involving highways and smaller roads, are common sites for serious crashes in Missouri. Failing to yield while crossing a highway can result in high-impact collisions, especially when one vehicle is traveling at highway speeds.
Missouri law requires drivers to yield to oncoming traffic when crossing major roadways, ensuring a clear and safe path before proceeding. Factors such as poor visibility, distractions, and misjudging the speed of approaching vehicles often contribute to these types of accidents.
To improve safety at rural intersections like Osage Road and US 65, drivers should come to a full stop, double-check for oncoming traffic, and wait for a safe gap before crossing. Local officials may also consider reviewing the intersection for possible safety enhancements, such as additional signage or improved lighting.
For those injured in intersection-related crashes, understanding their rights and options for recovery is crucial. Medical expenses, rehabilitation, and insurance claims can be overwhelming, making it essential to seek guidance on the best course of action.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a crash caused by a failure to yield, speaking with a professional can help you explore your options for recovery and support.
