Upper Macungie, PA (January 30, 2025) – Authorities have identified the 32-year-old passenger killed in a collision between a car and a tractor-trailer at Route 100 and Schaefer Run Road on Tuesday evening.

According to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, Krishan Kumar, of Upper Macungie, died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:06 p.m., and the coroner ruled his death as accidental.

The accident occurred just after 7:30 p.m. when the car Kumar was riding in, driven by a 31-year-old man from Easton, was traveling north on Schaefer Run Road. At the same time, a tractor-trailer operated by a 39-year-old Delray, Florida, man was heading south on Route 100.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Further details may be released as the investigation progresses.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Krishan Kumar during this difficult time.

Intersection Accidents in Pennsylvania

Intersections, especially those involving major highways like Route 100, are common locations for serious collisions. Failing to stop at a red light is one of the leading causes of intersection crashes, often resulting in high-impact collisions with devastating consequences.

Tractor-trailer crashes are particularly dangerous due to the size and weight of commercial trucks. When passenger vehicles collide with large trucks, occupants of smaller vehicles face a significantly higher risk of severe or fatal injuries.

Following a fatal accident, law enforcement conducts thorough investigations to determine contributing factors such as traffic violations, road conditions, and potential driver impairment.

If you or a loved one has been affected by a serious accident in Pennsylvania, you may have legal options to seek justice and compensation. Speaking with professionals about your case can help you take the necessary steps toward recovery.
