Union County, OR (January 10, 2025) – A tragic three-vehicle collision on Interstate 84 claimed the lives of two drivers and left another injured late Wednesday night, according to the Oregon State Police. The crash occurred near milepost 279, prompting an extensive emergency response and a lengthy closure of the highway.
The incident unfolded as Robert Fred Kenyon, 60, of Nampa, Idaho, stopped his Mack commercial vehicle and trailer at a chain-up area to install chains due to adverse weather and roadway conditions. Shortly thereafter, a westbound Freightliner driven by Steven Bradly Botter, 47, of Spokane, Washington, veered off the roadway for unknown reasons, colliding with Kenyon’s parked vehicle.
The situation escalated when another westbound Freightliner, operated by Sing Manvir, 28, of Fresno, California, struck the vehicles involved in the initial collision as they re-entered the roadway. Sadly, both Kenyon and Botter were pronounced dead at the scene. Manvir sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The crash resulted in a full closure of Interstate 84 for several hours, with the roadway impacted for approximately 10 hours as authorities conducted their investigation. The Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
