Ukiah, CA (November 30, 2024) – A fatal head-on traffic collision occurred on SR 1, near the Casper Bridge, at approximately 9:55 PM on November 28, 2024. The crash involved a van and a sedan, with both vehicles becoming trapped in the collision. Emergency responders, including units from Mendocino County, arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Tragically, two individuals were confirmed deceased at the scene. Both northbound and southbound lanes on the bridge were completely blocked as a result of the wreck.
Medics and fire crews worked extensively to clear the wreckage and attend to the victims, but despite their efforts, the crash resulted in fatalities. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and other authorities responded to the incident, with the coroner’s office being notified. At this time, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
