Tulsa, OK (February 14, 2024) – A devastating crash in south Tulsa claimed the lives of two teenage girls and left another in critical condition after their vehicle ran off the road and flipped into a creek embankment Thursday night.
Tulsa Police Department (TPD) officers responded to the accident around 9:45 p.m. near 91st St and Riverside Dr. Witnesses reported seeing a Tesla veer off the road just north of 91st St before plummeting into the embankment at Joe Creek on the east side of Riverside Dr.
Authorities located the heavily damaged vehicle using the TPD helicopter. Emergency crews worked urgently to extricate the victims, cutting off the car’s roof to reach those inside. Tragically, two 17-year-old girls lost their lives in the crash, while another 17-year-old girl was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
According to TPD, the victims were juniors at Holland Hall and may have been returning from a school activity at the time of the crash. In response to the tragedy, Holland Hall has canceled all Upper School classes on Friday, and grief counselors and chaplains will be available to support students and faculty.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the accident, including potential contributing factors such as speed, road conditions, or mechanical issues.
Our thoughts go out to the victims’ families, friends, and the entire Holland Hall community during this difficult time.
