Trenton, MO (December 05, 2024) – Emergency responders were dispatched to a serious multi-vehicle crash that occurred early Thursday morning on Missouri Highway 6, approximately one mile west of Trenton. The incident, which took place at around 5:45 AM, involved four vehicles and left several individuals with injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2009 Ford Ranger lost control on an icy bridge while traveling westbound. This caused the vehicle to slide into the eastbound lanes of MO 6, where it struck a 2023 Volvo conventional cab tractor-trailer. The impact caused the truck to jackknife, blocking both lanes of the highway. Subsequently, a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan and a 2018 Ford EcoSport collided with the vehicles already on the road.
First responders, including paramedics from Trenton Ambulance and officers from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, were quick to arrive on the scene. They provided medical treatment to the injured and transported two individuals to Wright Memorial Hospital. One of the victims, a 25-year-old male, was driving the Ford EcoSport, while another, a 52-year-old male, was an occupant of the Dodge Grand Caravan. Both sustained injuries and were treated at the hospital. The drivers of the other vehicles involved in the accident, including the Ford Ranger and the Volvo, were unharmed but did experience extensive property damage to their vehicles.
The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with all lanes on MO 6 blocked for several hours. Crews from Ewing’s Towing assisted in clearing the vehicles, which were all towed away from the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash, which appears to be related to icy road conditions. Authorities are urging drivers to remain cautious in the winter months, especially when traveling over bridges, which can freeze more quickly than other parts of the road.
Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident, and we wish them a swift recovery.
