Townsend, DE (December 05, 2024) – A rollover crash occurred on Route 13 at Blackbird Forest Road in Townsend at approximately 8:00 AM on Thursday, December 5, trapping two occupants inside the vehicle. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene, and upon arrival, it was confirmed that the vehicle had overturned, leaving both individuals unable to exit. Rescue crews from the area worked swiftly to extricate the victims, while additional emergency resources were brought in to assist.
To allow for emergency operations, Route 13 was closed in both directions. Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 was requested to assist with airlifting one of the victims. The helicopter was cleared to land near the crash site, and both victims were successfully freed by approximately 8:30 AM. One individual was airlifted to Christiana Hospital for further medical care and evaluation, while the second occupant was transported by ground ambulance to the same hospital.
