Town of Alban, WI (November 24, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle crash occurred on State Highway 66 in the Town of Alban on Saturday afternoon, resulting in one fatality and injuries to two others. The Portage County Communications Center received the initial report of the collision at approximately 12:56 p.m.
Authorities determined that a sedan traveling southbound on County Highway I failed to stop at a stop sign, crossing into the path of an SUV traveling on Highway 66. The collision left both vehicles partially blocking the highway. The 68-year-old Rosholt woman driving the sedan died at the scene.
The SUV was driven by a 74-year-old Rosholt man with a 77-year-old female passenger. Both sustained minor injuries and were transported to Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital for treatment.
Emergency response teams, including Portage County Ambulance, Rosholt EMS, the Rosholt Fire Department, and the Portage County Coroner’s Office, responded to the crash. The Amherst Fire Department Traffic Incident Management team and the Portage County Highway Department assisted with rerouting traffic. The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting a technical crash investigation to determine the full circumstances of the accident.
