Toppenish, WA (September 17, 2024) – A hit-and-run accident north of Toppenish on September 16 left one person dead and two others injured. Washington State Patrol reported that the crash occurred around 8:04 p.m. when a BMW, driven by 32-year-old Noemi Salazar Perez. Failed to yield and was struck by a Chrysler 200 on SR 97. Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. While a passenger in her car and a passenger in the Chrysler were hospitalized.
The driver of the Chrysler fled the scene but was arrested shortly after. Authorities are investigating the crash, and charges may follow pending the investigation results. Further details will be provided as the inquiry continues.
