Toppenish, WA (September 24, 2024) – A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on Saturday, September 21, resulting in the death of a woman in Yakima County. At approximately 9 p.m., deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) responded to reports of a possible deceased individual on the 1700 block of North Meyers Road.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered the body of a woman at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that she was walking north on North Meyers Road when she was struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. The woman is believed to be in her 30s based on evidence collected at the scene; however, her identity has not yet been confirmed.
The driver involved in the incident fled the scene and remains unidentified. The YCSO is actively investigating this deadly hit-and-run and is seeking assistance from the community to locate the vehicle involved in the accident.
