Tooele, UT (March 6, 2025) – A man was killed and a woman was seriously injured after their vehicle spun off Interstate 80 and rolled into a marshy area on Wednesday evening.
The crash occurred around 6:00 p.m., just past the State Route 179 exit, when a Ford F-250 traveling eastbound began to fishtail. The truck veered off the road, rolled over, and came to rest in about a foot of water, according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden.
The male driver died at the scene, while his female passenger was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. Authorities confirmed the two were husband and wife, but their names have not yet been released.
Investigators have not determined what caused the truck to fishtail, though wet road conditions and rainy weather may have contributed to the crash.

Rollover Accidents in Utah
Rollover crashes, like this tragic incident on I-80, often result in severe or fatal injuries. Wet road conditions, high speeds, and loss of vehicle control are common factors in rollover accidents, especially for larger vehicles like pickup trucks.
Interstate highways pose increased risks for rollovers due to high travel speeds and sudden changes in road conditions. Drivers should remain cautious, reduce speed during inclement weather, and ensure their tires and braking systems are properly maintained.
For victims and their families, the aftermath of a serious accident can be overwhelming. Seeking legal guidance can help families understand their rights and options for seeking compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other damages.
As authorities continue investigating this crash, Utah drivers are urged to exercise caution, especially during rainy or slick road conditions.
